CINCINNATI -- The death of a 52-year-old man at a Mount Healthy group home has investigators from Cincinnati to Columbus looking for answers.
James Zito was found dead with broken bones Tuesday morning inside Mount Healthy group home in the 7800 block of Affinity Place.
Police would not say whether Zito’s death is a homicide, but are calling the case “suspicious.” An autopsy will be conducted at the coroner’s office to determine the official cause of his death.
Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Columbus are now in charge of solving the case.
Zito’s family said they sent him to the group home three years ago so he could get better care. Zito was born with Down syndrome, was severely mentally disabled and could not speak.
BCI agents are now looking into whether the group home has a history of abuse.
Officials at the group home are not commenting on the case.
No arrests have been made.
