A local man who was one of the Tuskegee airmen has died.
Eugene Smith, who lived in Florence, Ind., died at 94.
His membership in the famed aviators was notable because unlike his brothers in arms, he was not African-American.
Smith was of mixed European and Native American ancestry, which got him classified as "colored" during World War II.
After his service, Smith practiced law in Cincinnati for more than 50 years.
A memorial service is still being planned.
