CINCINNATI - Parents and family members rushed to the scene at a local high school after reports of a shooting Monday morning.
At 9:07 a.m., Hamilton County dispatchers received a report of a shooting at La Salle High School, an all-male private school located in Green Township.
"I'm looking for my grandson," Mike Welsh said.
Welsh's grandson is a freshman at La Salle, and he was concerned that no one had picked him up from the school.
"It's guns again, that's the first thing I thought," Welsh said.
Hamilton County officials said a La Salle High School student produced a gun and shot himself in a classroom. He was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Jaime Bueter, of Western Hills, has a junior at La Salle.
"Kids are kids and teenagers have the same problems regardless of upbringing and what school they go to," Bueter said. "I just feel for the family."
Travis Christman heard about the shooting on the news and soon after his son called him from La Salle school grounds to tell him he was safe.
"Young kids, they've done this since the beginning of time," Christman said. "I mean, stress happens in their lives and they don't know how to deal with it."
