CRITTENDEN, Ky. -- The body found along I-75 between Walton and Crittenden in Kenton County has been identified as Melinda Sue Ingram.
After receiving a tip about the ID, the Medical Examiner's office used dental records to identify the woman as Melinda Ingram, 29, of New Richmond, Ohio.
An autopsy was performed at the Saint Elizabeth Medical Center and the cause of death is still undetermined. Police say they are treating the death as a crime until they know something further.
Ingram's family last saw her four weeks before her disappearance.
Before a positive ID was made, an initial forensic anthropologist examination determined the body found in September was that of a white female approximately 30 years of age.
The body was found at about 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 27 near the I-71/I-75 split in southern Kenton County by Glen Copher, a member of a mowing crew.
Police said there was no clear indication of cause of death at the scene of the discovery.
Anyone with information on Melinda Ingram is urged to call Detective Paul Anderson with the Kenton County Police Department at 859-392-1952.
