VILLA HILLS, Ky. -- Cincinnati police and Kenton County authorities rescued eight people from a sinking boat on the Ohio River near Villa Hills Monday evening.
Officials said the boat began sinking before 6 p.m. and crews said everyone on the boat was accounted for. There were two children, two teens and four adults on board.
One person was hospitalized, but officials said everyone was conscious at the scene.
Robert Collins witnessed the incident and helped another person rescue the group.
"When me and the other guy from the other boat got to them, they were struggling and they were tired, scared, panicky," said Collins.
Collins told 9 On Your Side it appeared the boat was too small for eight people.
"They had been wave jumping all day in a small boat. And he said they jumped a wake, a wave came over the back of the boat and just took it down," said Collins.
Police said everyone was wearing a life vest and the boat was a total loss.
It is not clear if alcohol was involved at this time.
The incident happened near 656 River Road in Villa Hills.
