COVINGTON, Ky. -- A former youth football coach received his sentence Friday in a sex crime case involving a 16-year-old girl.
Thomas Hansman will serve 90 days of a five-year sentence, then go on probation, a judge ruled.
Detectives said they uncovered more than 2,000 text messages between Hansman, 27, and the teen in which Hansman talked about his desire for her.
In one message, Hansman told the girl he "would love to be the one you lose it to," Det. Nick Klaiss said at Hansman's arraignment in August.
Hansman, a former volunteer middle school coach for Holy Cross School, pleaded guilty to one felony count of using electronic devices to procure a minor to commit a sexual offense in exchange for having a first-degree sex abuse charge dropped, according to Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders.
