PARK HILLS, Ky. -- A Northern Kentucky dog underwent surgery Tuesday after suffering major burns during a house fire.
Edison, who is also called “Eddie,” suffered burns to about three-fourths of his body in the house fire earlier this month. Park Hills Animal Hospital veterinarians said he was hit by burning debris.
Doctors said the 2-year-old Labrador needs several treatments to completely recover. Tuesday’s surgery, which lasted three hours, was the first of many.
“Edison needs lots of medications and care over the next few months,” hospital staff wrote on Facebook. “Amazes us that he is still a happy lab!”
Eddie’s owner surrendered him to the hospital to continue his treatment, according to the hospital’s Facebook page .
Veterinarians said Eddie is doing well and is expected to fully recover.
Once his treatment is complete, he will be up for adoption.
