FORT MITCHELL, Ky. -- An overnight fire has displaced a family of five from their home on Longmeadow Lane.
Fire investigators say the Red Cross is helping the two adults and three children who escaped unharmed when the fire broke out around 3 a.m. Friday.
Fort Mitchell Fire Chief Gary Auffart said the homeowner's daughter initially heard the smoke detectors go off and alerted everyone else in house.
Auffart said the fire started on the deck and quickly spread to the first floor and rear of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the chief said it does not appear to be suspicious.
