READING, Ohio- A warrant has been issued for the father of a 2-year-old girl who accidentally shot herself in the leg at a home in Reading.

The shooting took place at about 7:20 p.m. on August 22 at the Lakeshore Drive Apartments on East Lakeview Drive, according to Hamilton County dispatch.

The child was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to be treated for a "non life-threatening" injury.

The warrant was issued August 26 for Aaron Graham for child endangering. "(Graham) violated the duty of care by not paying continuous supervision of his daughter, which allowed her to retrieve a loaded 9mm handgun and cause serious physical harm to the child's right leg," according to the affidavit. "The defendant stated the firearm was kept loaded and secured in a holster in a drawer of a nightstand of the defendant's bedroom which was easily accessible and in reach of the child."

Kevin Innskeep, a resident at the property, said the news of the shooting was more alarming than the actual sound of the gunfire.

"I didn't even hear it. I live right above (the apartment where the shooting happened). I was actually surprised (to hear about the shooting)," he said. "I have seen police cars here before but not for anything like this, maybe a domestic (dispute), but nothing like this matter."
