CINCINNATI -- A special police officer made a debut as Santa Claus on Christmas Day to help keep residents of Norwood safe.
Officer Jeff Barger of the Norwood Police Department dressed up as Old Saint Nicholas, and was prepared to fight crime with a long white beard and plump belly.
Barger said it's a nice way to bring a little holiday cheer to the community.
"I have to be at work instead of at home with my three children ages 2, 4 and 7," Barger said. "So if I can't see the joy on their faces, one of the things we wanted to do was see the joy on other peoples' faces. While I'm working, any children that we come across today we plan to give them one or two items, being it a candy cane or coloring book or something of that sort."
