Montgomery's Independence Day Parade is scheduled to start at the Cooper Road across from Sycamore Junior High at 10 a.m. Friday, July 4.
According to a city of Montgomery news release, "This longstanding family tradition in Montgomery starts at 10 a.m. moving along Cooper Road from the junior high and heads north on Montgomery Road to Schoolhouse Lane. Spectators should come early to get a spot near the announcer, located by the Bell Tower and the Universalist Church in the Heritage District.
"The parade boasts family-fun units and characters, with plenty of tradition built into the lineup of floats, flags and candy to make for a spectacular and entertaining start to a full day of celebrating. Neighbors are encouraged to get together and enter a creative unit in the parade."
Admission is free, and tickets are not required.
