MIAMI TWP., Ohio -  Two toddlers are recovering in the hospital after an ATV rolled over, and the grandfather of one of the children could be facing charges, authorities say.

Deputies say Matthew Peace, 42, was driving the ATV with his 3-year-old grandson and a 2-year-old family friend in the 4700 block of Miami Road.

An urgent call from a firefighter sounded the alarm..

"We got a 4-wheeler flip. We got a one child … two … injured. One's unconscious .... Get some units rolling quick."

Peace was driving with the children seated in front of him, deputies said. One child grabbed the handlebar, causing the ATV to roll over and eject all three riders.

No one was wearing a helmet.

The two children are listed in serious but stable condition at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office traffic safety unit is handling the investigation.

Peace was treated at the scene and released. There were no drugs or alcohol involved, authorities said.
