2 partially masked men attempt to rob Mount Airy Family Door at gunpoint

GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Investigators are searching for the two men who attempted to rob a Family Dollar in Mount Airy at gunpoint.

The robbery took place at 8:37 p.m. at the store at 6134 Colerain Avenue. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) says two men wearing masks that covered half their face entered the store through the front door and ordered an employee to give them the cash from the register. One of the them head a gun, according to the sheriff's office report.

When the employee was unable to open the register, one of the suspects jumped over the counter and attempted to force open the register. He was unsuccessful, according to the HCSO.

After failing to open the register, the second suspect pointed a handgun at the employees while he and the other suspect exited through the front door without any cash.

Investigators say the suspects were last seen fleeing northbound on foot. They were believed to be traveling on Colerain Avenue toward Byrneside Drive. 

Green Township police brought in a K9 in attempt to track the suspects but were unsuccessful.

Surveillance footage and/or images of the suspects has not been released.

No one was injured.

The incident remains under investigation.
