Colerain police arrest four people involved in Craigslist robbery scam

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OHIO – A total of four people are in custody after an undercover investigation turned into an officer involved shooting.

Colerain Township police say two adults and two juveniles established a scam where they advertised the sale of cellphones on Craigslist. The suspects then robbed respondents they met at an agreed upon location.

The initial incidents occurred on March 25 and March 26. By March 28 officers from the Colerain Police Department Investigative Unit set up a covert operation by responding to the same ad.

In the process of conducting the meeting between the suspect and an undercover cop, one of the suspects pointed a gun at two officers. One officer shot the suspect in the hand in self-defense.

The incident led to the arrest of all four people.

Colerain police identified the adults as 20-year-old Edna Liban of West Galbraith Road and Justice Grant, 19, of College Hill. Prosecutors are attempting to try the two juveniles, 15 and 16 years old, in adult court.

All four suspects face charges of aggravated robbery and robbery. Grant and the two juveniles also face charges with gun specifications.
