CLEVES, Ohio - Authorities have arrested a suspect in a robbery at a Cleves credit union.

Police were dispatched to the Kroger located at 4001 Ohio 128 in Cleves at about noon for reports of a robbery at the credit union near the grocery store.

Police say Victor Schmidt, 22, entered the credit union, placed his hand in his jacket, indicated he had a gun and demanded money. The teller complied and Schmidt fled northwest on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

No one was injured and only credit union employees were inside the building at the time of the robbery.

Hamilton County sheriff's detectives, acting on a tip from a bank employee, responded to an address nearby the credit union on Hooven Avenue and recovered the suspect's clothing, and the proceeds from the robbery, but Schmidt was not at the address at that time. Detectives took Schmidt into custody a short time later when he returned to the address.

Schmidt has been charged with one count of robbery and was transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center to await an arraignment date.
