CINCINNATI -- June 21 is the longest day of the year, but it’s also an important day for the Alzheimer's Association as they honor those who are impacted by the disease on a daily basis.

The association’s Longest Day event helps raise awareness and money to support the fight against Alzheimer’s.

The cause is especially important for Jan Moore, who is trying to raise $1,000 by selling her handmade crafts.

"To know that you're not alone and to know that there are people out there that are trying to help … the Alzheimer's Association is one of them,” Moore said. “And one day we will kick it.”

Anyone can participate in the Longest Day event. A number of Tri-State restaurants, hotels and attractions are donation a portion of their proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati.

Last’s year’s Longest Day fundraiser raised over $50,000 to support research for the disease.
