CINCINNATI -- A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized after being hit by a bullet Monday evening, police said.

The shooting was reported on Craft Street in Winton Hills at about 8 p.m.

Lt. Steve Saunders said he believed the boy had been outside when there was gunfire in the area and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The boy was being treated at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Details about his condition weren't immediately available.

About 10 officers were seen searching the neighborhood for evidence. Multiple bullet casings were on the ground. A car window on the street appeared to have been shot out.

Police are searching for three suspects who they believe are armed. They tweeted that they were looking for a "dark newer Jeep" with tinted windows and Ohio license plate HBC7325.
