CINCINNATI - Officials are working to determine the cause of a fire at an apartment building in Westwood early Wednesday morning.

A fire started in a basement unit of the Westwood Manor Apartments in the 2400 block of Westwood Northern Boulevard at about 3 a.m. The residents of the basement unit evacuated the building and no one was injured, according to fire officials.

The crews knocked down the blaze about a half hour after it started and the damage was contained to only the basement. Flames were seen lapping up the outside of the building but fire crews say other units only have smoke damage.

Investigators are at the scene to figure out what led to the flames.

The Red Cross is on the scene helping two families, including three children, who were forced from their apartment.

Officials have not released any additional details at this time. They estimate there is between $15,000 and $20,000 in damage.
