Baggy of white powder used in airbag deployment found on Metro bus, Hazmat investigates

CINCINNATI – A baggy of sodium azide,a white powder used to deploy vehicle airbags, was found on a Cincinnati Metro bus Tuesday morning, prompting hazardous material units to respond to the scene.

The bus was located at Reading Road and Elsinore Place when the substance was discovered at about 11 a.m.

There were no clear reason why the baggy was on the bus, or who placed it there.

The bus was cleared at about noon.
