DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The parents of a 26-year-old man found dead in a ditch last month are pleading for the public’s help.
Delhi Township police say they have no leads as to who hit Christopher Shaw with a vehicle and left him in a ditch along the border between Cincinnati and Delhi Township on Saturday, July 19.
“He was kind and gentle hearted,” Shaw’s father, Timothy Courtney, said. “We believe (his death) was a tragic accident and unintentional. Someone has to know something regarding the events that led to the death of our son. We urge anyone to come forward to report what they know.”
Police said a passerby saw Shaw’s body just after 5 p.m. off Rapid Run Road near Riverview Trail, about a quarter-mile from Hillside Avenue.
Police are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run.
"It appears (Shaw) may have been walking eastbound along the roadway,” Delhi Township Police Chief Jim Howarth said. "We have received information that he may have left an establishment in the Sayler Park area at approximately 3 a.m. Friday."
Shaw's family members told WCPO that he frequently walked along Rapid Run Road.
"Honestly, it isn't a safe street to walk on," Howarth said.
Police said Shaw was hit in a dark area of the roadway and the person who hit him may not know they struck a person.
Police ask anyone with information in this case to call the Delhi Township Police Department at 513-922-0060.
