GPS tracking device helped police track down an armed robbery suspect

CINCINNATI - A robbery suspect is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning after police used a GPS tracking device from a stolen iPhone to locate him.

Brandon Hunter, 22, is the Hamilton County Jail charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

In December, Cincinnati police say Hunter and two other suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint on St. James Avenue in Roselawn. The victim was pistol whipped in the face and his Lexus was stolen.

Investigators say that same day, the thieves dumped the car but kept the phone which was in the center console.

On Monday, officers tracked the iPhone to a moving Honda Accord. Inside the car, police say they found the iPhone and the key to the stolen Lexus.

Officers arrested Hunter who is scheduled to face a judge at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
