CINCINNATI -- A man charged with firing shots at an off-duty Cincinnati police officer in 2012 was sentenced Tuesday in a Hamilton County courtroom.
Frank Latham, 23, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Police arrested Latham and 22-year-old Jihad Sanders on Dec. 11, 2012 after the pair fired shots into a Roselawn residence and later fired a gun in the direction of the off-duty officer, investigators said.
Police say Sanders and Latham fired shots into the house in Roselawn but did not cause any injuries.
After the house shooting, an off-duty police officer saw a SUV with Sanders and Latham in it driving erratically in the 7000 block of Reading Road. When the officer followed the vehicle, the driver stopped and fired shots in the officer’s direction in the 1600 block of Summit Road, police said.
Sanders and Latham fired three shots toward the officer’s vehicle -- one bullet hit the grill of the vehicle, another hit the headlight and a third bullet missed the vehicle completely, according to a police statement.
