Rock Bottom Brewery robbed Friday night

CINCINNATI -- As customers ate and drank at Rock Bottom Brewery on Fountain Square, the restaurants back-house staff was robbed.

Cincinnati police confirmed an armed-suspected entered the popular spot from an employee entrance at about 11 p.m. wearing a mask and brandishing a handgun.

He took money from a safe and employees. Police did not say how much money the suspect got away with.

The man left through the same employee entrance.

"(The entrance) was only accessible to employees; the patrons were totally unaware this was transpiring, totally out of the view and visibility of anyone patronizing the restaurant," said Lt. Bret Isaac with the Cincinnati Police Department. "The only people who had contact with him were the employees in the store."

A description of the suspect was not immediately released.

The robbery happened days after Cincinnati police addressed a homicide, the first downtown in almost a year, and a related shooting.
