CINCINNATI -- Officers arrested a man suspected of shooting at police in Government Square late Wednesday night, according to Cincinnati Police Capt. Dennis Swingley.

Swingley said officers received reports of a man with a gun at about 10:04 p.m. near Walnut and Sixth streets. When they arrived, the man had boarded a bus that police prevented from leaving. The man fled and then fired at the officers before a successful stun gun shot enabled police to arrest him, officials said.

No officers were injured.

"It's a very good conclusion for us, but something could easily have went the other way on this one," Assistant Police Chief Dave Bailey said. "You got to look at what the officers did, and how they handled it is remarkable."

The suspect’s identity was not immediately publicized.
