CINCINNATI - Parking in Over-the-Rhine will get a little easier with the additional of a new parking garage, which opens Thursday.
The 340-space Mercer Garage, located on Vine Street between 13th and 14th streets, will help alleviate parking constraints in the area with burgeoning entertainment and dining appeal. The five-level garage is part of Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation's $60 million Mercer Commons construction and enhancement.
Drivers can park in the garage for $1 per hour with an $8 maximum for the day. Monthly parking passes are available for $85 a month. The garage adds to the more than 40 garages in downtown and help free up some of the 1,500 parking meters.
The Mercer Commons project includes the renovation of 19 buildings and 26 vacant parcels of land on more than 2.6 acres, which will yield 126 apartments, 28 condominiums and commercial space in addition to the garage, according to the 3CDC website .
The parking garage was part of the common's first phase of development along with more than 20 condo units, 3,900 square feet of commercial space and five townhomes. The remaining rehabilitation begins in June and the remaining condo construction starts in the fall, according to the 3CDC site.
