CINCINNATI -- Findlay Market is packed on Friday afternoons. Shoppers come in to pick up produce, meats, spices or to grab lunch and a drink.

"I like the atmosphere because it's one-stop shopping," Anna Gambetta said. "You can come here for everything. And it's local products and local people."

Gambetta said she shops at Findlay Market frequently and that's it's a family affair.

In the future Gambetta and other folks downtown have another option for grocery shopping: The brand-new Kroger on Court Street.

Will this new state-of-the-art store pull customers away from Findlay Market? Findlay Market's corporation president doesn't think so.

"For us, the fact that Kroger is coming is a really good sign for Downtown and Over-the-Rhine," Joe Hansbauer, president and CEO for the corporation for Findlay Market said.

Hansbauer said shoppers have gone to Findlay Market for specialty items "you can't find anywhere else" for more than 160 years.

Today, 52 merchants work full-time at Findlay Market, and more than 100 work there on weekends.
