CINCINNATI -- A 9-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck by an SUV on Monday in Mount Auburn.
Erica Snider, 25, was driving west near 217 Kinsey Ave. in her Jeep Liberty when Montez Clayton entered the roadway at about 12 p.m. and was struck.
Cincinnati police said Clayton failed to stop for oncoming traffic as he exited a driveway from behind a parked vehicle.
Officials at the scene said the 9-year-old was going in and out of consciousness while being transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
He is listed in critical condition with severe injuries.
Snider, of Frankfort, Kentucky, was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured as a result of the incident. Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.
Snider, another adult and two children were on their way to a picnic at the Cincinnati Zoo when the accident happened.
