CINCINNATI - A male student at Mount Airy School brought a handgun to the school Monday, according to a Cincinnati Public Schools official.
Janet Walsh, director of public affairs for CPS, confirmed the school conducted an active search for weapons Monday after an individual found an ammunition clip in a hallway. During that time, Walsh said a seventh grade student confessed to a teacher he had a .22 caliber handgun.
Walsh said the gun was not loaded and probably inoperable.
The student was arrested and suspended with the intent to expel.
Police did not release any further details of the incident.
Mount Airy School, located at 5730 Colerain Avenue, has students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
