CINCINNATI - Cincinnati's Eden Park could soon have a new and unexpected attraction: a microbrewery with a tasting room.
Father and son, Jack and Bryon Martin, recently approached the city to redevelop the 118-year-old pump station and water tower on Martin Drive into the region's newest microbrewery.
The Martin family owns the Cincinnati Beer Company and already plans to open another brewery in Over-the-Rhine, along the route of the new Cincinnati Streetcar, once that project is operating.
The East End area council says the men intend to make small batches of beer to sell to local restaurants. Community council leaders also say the family hopes to use state tax credits to help fund the project.
The city has not yet determined if the building is structurally sound.
The building and tower are currently used for storage since it stopped being the center for Cincinnati emergency radio operations in the 1980s.
