Madisonville grandma arrested after toddler found walking alone on Whetsel Ave.

CINCINNATI – A grandmother was charged with one count of child endangerment after a toddler was found wandering along Whetsel Avenue and Madison Road in Madisonville Tuesday morning.

A Cincinnati DIstrict 2 police officer on patrol found the three-year-old wandering along the roadway wearing a t-shirt and diaper at about 8 a.m. Officers tracked the child back to 4815 Whetsel Ave.

The grandmother, Althea Asbury, was arrested and released. The toddler was returned to Asbury's custody a short time later.

In an earlier version of the story WCPO erroneously reported the mother was arrested.
