CINCINNATI -- Three dogs died Saturday night in a fire at a single-story home in Lower Price Hill.
Crews responded to 2318 Gest Street, near Wilder Avenue, at 8:08 p.m. after the owner of the property awoke to the sight and smell of his home burning.
When firefighters arrived at the scene they found a "working fire with smoke showing from the roof," according to the Cincinnati Fire Department.
They managed to bring the blaze under control within 15 minutes.
While the man was able to escape the home on his own, three dogs died in the blaze.
The owner of the home suffered smoke inhalation but medics believe he'll be OK. He and another adult who lives in the home are receiving help from the American Red Cross.
Repairs will cost about $15,000.
The Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the fire.
