CINCINNATI -- A 6-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in Kennedy Heights Sunday evening, Cincinnati police said.

The incident involving a single vehicle happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Kennedy Avenue and Northdale Place. Police say two children attempted to cross Kennedy Avenue when one of them was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Cincinnati police District 2 officials said the girl is in critical condition and was taken to Children's Hospital. The exact nature of her injuries has not been released. The other child was not hurt.

9 On Your Side's Amy Wadas reports that a parent of the child struck was with her at the time of the incident.

Police remained on the scene for several hours after the incident to investigate, and do not believe speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash. They continue to investigate whether any charges will be filed.
