CINCINNATI - Do you know a different language?

As Cincinnati becomes more diverse, there's a growing need for interpreters.

Catholic Charities started an interpreters program this year and has already hired about 100.

"Working in schools and businesses helping to provide that face-to-face interpretation support for people trying to communicate with folks from different countries," says Kelly Anchrum, director of communications at Catholic Charities..

The interpreters speak about 30 different languages.

"We have gone beyond German and French and Spanish," Anchrum said.

"People come here to go to school, to a university. We got global companies based here in Cincinnati."

Think 30 languages is a lot? Wait until next year.

"As we look to 2018, we are planning on hiring at least another 100 contractors who represent another 24 different languages," she said.

Catholic Charities say the demand is great and they need your help.

"Some languages like Vietnamese, we struggle to find enough interpreters to be able to meet the need of that population here in Cincinnati," Anchrum said.

if you are interested in becoming a language interpreter - or if you need one - call Catholic Charities at 513-672-3786 or find out more on their website.

Organizers say they offer competitive rates and they plan to hold workshops for people interested in making it a career.
