CINCINNATI -- With cold weather just around the corner, no one wants to be caught off guard. That's why Cincinnati's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is stockpiling supplies for its busiest season.
On Saturday, District Three officers lined up empty cruisers and held a donation drive that stuffed them full of food, toys, bedding and other supplies for the second year in a row.
The number of rescued animals at the SPCA skyrockets in the winter and the number of adoptions dwindles.

Assistant Chief Dave Bailey took the opportunity to remind pet owners that Cincinnati has a new anti-tethering law, which means that you cannot just chain up an animal and leave it outside in extreme temperatures this winter.
"They gotta have shelter in extreme temperatures," Bailey said. "That is a law now and we're going to roll that out in a few weeks. I just want to get that out there today for folks to be mindful of the fact that we got to provide shelter for our (animal) friends."
