CINCINNATI -- A man is dead and two people are injured after a shooting in Hartwell involving a love triangle.
The shooting happened at about 12:20 a.m. Friday in the 8400 block of Anthony Wayne Avenue, according to Cincinnati police.
Investigators told 9 On Your Side’s Brian Yocono that one man was found shot in the chest in the back yard of a home in the 8400 block of Dixie Avenue.
The other two victims were found at the home where the shooting happened.
All three victims were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Police said the man who was shot in the chest later succumbed to his injuries. He was later identified as 26-year-old Jamar Ayers.
The other two victims were both shot in their legs, according to police. The conditions and identifies of the two surviving victims have not been released.
Investigators said the victims are not cooperating. However, detectives said they believe one of the victims may also be responsible for the incident. Officials told Yocono they are treating the case as a homicide.
According to police, the victim who died is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of a woman who lives at the home.
Detectives said the woman who was injured is not the deceased’s ex-girlfriend. However, police said they believe the other male victim is the “new” boyfriend.
According to police, three children under the age of 9 were in the home at the time of the incident but none of them were injured. Police said the children were asleep when the shooting happened.
Multiple agencies were called to the scene because the incident happened near the boundary of several communities.
No other details have been released.
