CINCINNATI -- Police say a 14-year-old student was shot to death in South Fairmount Tuesday evening.
Dwayne Lamarr Lewis attended Carpe Diem-Aiken in College Hill, a tuition-free charter school for 7-12 grade students sponsored by Cincinnati Public Schools.
A witness spotted Lewis in the middle of the street near the intersection of Blaine Road and Knox Street at about 5:11 p.m., authorities said.
When officers arrived, Lewis was dead. As of Wednesday, authorities have not released information about a suspect in the case.
South Fairmount resident Jenike Allen, who was one of the first witnesses on the scene, said she's concerned about a rise in violence.
"In this little neighborhood right here we are all family around here. Really, to see something like this especially with a kid, it's bad," she said.
Jennifer Wilburn, a mother of four who moved to the neighborhood in July, says she's not surprised to hear of another crime in the area.
"I feel like it's a murder haven. Somebody could get murdered and somebody could get away with it with no problem," she said.
Knox Street and Blaine Road were temporarily shut down while officers investigated.
Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
