Judge to decide fate of women's home

CINCINNATI - The fate of the Anna Louise Inn is now in the hands of a Hamilton County Judge.

A final decision was expected Wednesday in a lawsuit to stop a $12 million renovation project at the Anna Louise Inn, but Judge Norbert Nadel said he needed more time to review both parties' arguments.

Western & Southern Financial wants to purchase the land where the Anna Louise Inn sits and turn the site into commercial property.  Representatives from Western & Southern say doing so would generate more tax revenue for the city.

However, Cincinnati Union Bethel, which runs the Inn, says it doesn't want to move out of the 100 plus year old building and would rather renovate it into apartments for women who have lost their home or who have spent time on the streets.  Residents at the inn tell 9 News they feel bullied.

A baliff for Judge Nadel says a decision on the lawsuit could come within the next couple of days.
