CINCINNATI - Organizers are calling it a "floating pep rally" to support the Ohio River, and this weekend Tri-Staters can join the celebration for Paddlefest.
It is the 10th anniversary of the largest canoe and kayak paddling event in the midwest.
The fun kicked off Thursday with the Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo. Children were able to learn about recycling, weather patterns for catching fish and much more.
The Ohio River Music and Outdoor Festival is Friday at Coney Island. Along with live music, a wide variety of games are scheduled in the picnic grove of the park.
The main event takes place Saturday. The paddling on the Ohio River includes an 8.2 float trip, an 11-mile amateur race, a 14-mile pro race... and even more contests, music and food for the 2,000 people expected to attend. The finish line is at Yeatman's Cove.
It is not too late to participate. Onsite registration for the water events range from $30 to $45 dollars (which does not include canoe or kayak rentals). Registration opens at 10 a.m. Friday.
Live music starts at 5 p.m. Friday.
