CINCINNATI - Hats of all shapes and colors decorated the lawn at the Smale Riverfront Park on Thursday.
The women's committee of Smale Riverfront Park kicked off its 6th annual Hats Off luncheon. More than 800 women attended the event with this year's efforts in fundraising dedicated to bringing a carousel to the park.
The group hopes to have a carousel in place by 2017. The carousel could have whimsical characters specific to Cincinnati such as Bengal tigers and flying pigs.
"We don't know for sure what kind of carousel but we are hoping for potentially a double-decker carousel and possibly enclosed in glass so that it can be used year round", said Amelia Crutcher, co-char of the event.
The women's committee has raised more than $1 million the last six years to support the park's construction.
