CINCINNATI - A local effort is underway to fight childhood obesity by helping families become more physically active.

On Saturday, city council member P.G. Sittenfeld held the first ever Let's Move Cincinnati event at Smale Riverfront Park located on East Mehring Way.

The event is a branch of First Lady Michelle Obama's national initiative. Let's Move Cincinnati featured a mini youth soccer camp, family boot camps, dancing exercises and healthy foods.

"You look at other cities that embrace biking to work and going on walks things like that," said P.G. Sittenfeld, Cincinnati City Council member. "I'd love it if in a few years we can say we are one of the healthiest cities in the United States. There's work to be done but we're getting started today."

Sittenfeld tells 9 News he would like to hold more events in the future. You can contact his office for more information by clicking here .
