CINCINNATI - "There's an app for that." It's an expression many of us hear almost every day. Now, there is a new app for smartphones and tablets that allows you to report the most intimate details of your life, and others'.

Would you be willing to tell the world about the most private details of your sexual life? That's what Indiana University's world-famous Kinsey Institute asks in a new app for smartphones called "Kinsey Reporter."

The app allows you to anonymously report anything from public displays of affection to sexual activity to even birth control use.

9 News asked a group of friends in downtown Cincinnati whether the Kinsey Report would be an app they'd use.

"Maybe. Possibly. It kind of depends," said Samantha Bruce.

"I don't know. I don't know how to feel about it. I don't know if I'd personally use it. I think it's something interesting, seeing where it could go," said Matt Grimes of Milford.

The Kinsey Reporter app posts your information anonymously, plotting it on a regional map. It won't identify you, but does give the time and general location.

People 9 News spoke with saw positive and negative effects of the application.

"Also, in the wrong hands, if there is not restrictions on it, if kids got a hold of it," said Hillary King.

"I think it's a little too far. I don't know. I think that with Facebook and things, they don't really talk about those kind of stuff, they talk about lives and what's going on," added Grimes.

"I don't think it's going too far. I mean Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, all those. Those even go too far. So I don't know if there really is a line to be drawn or anything," said Bruce.

When 9 News downloaded the Kinsey Reporter to our smartphones, Apple did have an age restriction posting before allowing downloads to iPhones.

It should be noted that after using it on an iPhone and an Android, the app kept crashing. It's still only a "beta" or test version that may be refined over time.
