Cincinnati Bengals team up with the Freestore Foodbank for annual food drive

CINCINNATI - Bengals fans are encouraged to bring more than just their team spirit to Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday.

Volunteers with the Freestore Foodbank are teaming up with the Cincinnati Bengals to collect canned goods and monetary donations at all the entrances to the stadium before the home game against the Oakland Raiders.

"This is probably our third largest canned food drive of the year," said Mick Clay, Director of Development Operations for the Freestore Foodbank. "It helps restock the shelves after our Thanksgiving holiday distribution."

If fans forget to bring a canned good, then a monetary donation would also go a long way. "A $5 dollar donation would provide 20 meals to families in need," said Clay.

Last year, volunteers collected 8,120 pounds of food and $14,021 in cash. This year, organizers are hoping Bengals fans break that record.
