CINCINNATI -- A University of Cincinnati police officer suffered minor injuries Saturday when he crashed his motorcycle into the back of an SUV while escorting the UC football team to campus.

The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. along a stretch of Martin Luther King Drive. The officer, whose name has not been released, was involved in a security caravan for the Bearcat football team which was making its way to Nippert Stadium on the UC campus.

Medical personnel transported the officer to University of Cincinnati Medical Center as a precaution, according to law enforcement officials at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

UC takes on Northwestern State at 7 p.m.
