A sobriety checkpoint is in effect for Friday night near the University of Cincinnati campus.
The Hamilton County OVI Task Force chose the area of the 100 block of East McMillan Street for the checkpoint due to the frequency and severity of the impaired driving problem in the area.
Since Jan. 1, 2013, there’ve been 87 motorists arrested in the area for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI), according to data from the Task Force. During that same period, 69 OVI-related crashes occurred, one of which resulted in what the Task Force called a “serious injury.”
Checkpoint operations begin at 9 p.m. and end at 1 a.m.
