Champion spellers to face off at Saturday's WCPO Regional Spelling Bee

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Champion spellers from schools around the Tri-State will convene Saturday for a chance to go to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

The WCPO 9 On Your Side Regional Spelling Bee starts at 9 a.m. for the spellers from the Ohio region and at 2 p.m. for the students from the Kentucky-Indiana region at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy in Sycamore Township.

Both Bees will be live-streamed on WCPO.com and the WCPO Facebook page

If you want to watch it on TV, the Region II Ohio Spelling Bee will air on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. and the Region I Kentucky-Indiana Spelling Bee will air Thursday, April 6 7:30 p.m.

The winner from each region will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in late May.  There, they will compete with hundreds of spellers from across the country and beyond.
