CINCINANTI - Hundreds of young people waited in line for hours in Avondale Saturday for a chance to get a summer job.
The Urban League of Greater Cincinnati in Avondale accepted applications for the city's Summer Youth Employment Program.
Due to the popularity of the positions, applicants started lining up outside Urban League at 3:30 a.m.
"That says they want to work," said Dorothy Smoot, a representative for the Urban League. "That says young people do want to work and we as a community need to find the opportunities for them to work."
More than 500 people applied for 277 available positions.
Applicants who do not receive a job will be placed on a waiting list in case a position comes open.
