CINCINNATI – A criminal defense attorney convicted for trying to pay off a witness was sentenced to three years community control fro bribing a witness.

In Feb. 2013, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted Greg Cohen of Blue Ash for promising, offering or giving a witness in a murder trial money to leave town. That witness was set to testify in the homicide case of Lamar Simmons.

Simmons was sentenced to life in prison for the killing of Anthony Thomas. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for manslaughter in another case.

The witness Cohen attempted to pay off reported him to officials.

Cohen pleaded guilty to an obstruction of justice charge and tampering with evidence on Jan. 13.
