CLEVES, Ohio - A Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy was involved in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.
The unidentified deputy was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 near Mount Nebo Road in Cleves at about 12:09 a.m. when the incident occurred, according to the Sheriff's Office reports.
As the deputy was traveling with his overhead lights and sirens activated, a motorist was stopped at the traffic light on Mount Nebo. The driver, Christy Meddings, 42, of North Bend, was driving a 2007 Ford Ranger.
When the light turned green, Meddings' vehicle proceeded though the intersection. Reports indicate she wasn't able to see the sheriff's deputy until she was in the intersection because there was another vehicle to her left that was attempting to turn left, and it was blocking her view.
The deputy's cruiser struck Meddings' vehicle in the front left.
Both drivers were taken to Good Samaritan Western Ridge Hospital by Miami Township Fire Rescue. They were each treated and released.
All of the drivers were wearing their safety belts when the crash occurred, the Sheriff's Office said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit.
