SYCAMORE TWP., Ohio – A 58-year-old man was arrested Thursday and faces multiple charges after an explosion in a Sycamore Twp. condo Wednesday night turned into the discovery of a meth lab.
According to Jim Knapp, spokesman for the Sheriff's office, Edward Greenwood now faces charges of illegally manufacturing drugs and illegally assembling and possessing chemicals to manufacture drugs.
Greenwood is being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
Wednesday night around 9:50, the Regional Narcotics Unit made the discovery of materials inside the residence that are used to make methamphetamines.
The condo is in the 1900 block of Chaucer Drive, according to officers. Fire crews Wednesday said the windows were blown out of the second floor of the condo and siding blown off the exterior wall.
Knapp said Greenwood and his mother were inside the home when the explosion fired. Greenwood's mother remained at the scene but police said her son ran from the area before first responders arrived.
Officials suspected materials found inside were used to make methamphetamines and called RENU agents to investigate. Once inside, they stabilized and collected dangerous chemicals found inside the condo and took them to the Hamilton County Coroner’s office to be tested.
No one was injured in this incident.
