The Cincinnati-based ice cream maker opened its kiosk in Concourse A on Monday after last week's soft opening. The location will not offer Graeter's full menu, but will include many of its ice cream flavors — which will change seasonally — its bakery items and candies, said CVG spokesperson Jay Brock.
The location will score big with locals and attract other travelers who haven't yet tried Graeter's, Brock said. The location drew in many CVG patrons during its soft opening last week, he added.
"When people started to see it, I think people were running to it, they were so excited," Brock said. "For the passengers who were not local, it educated them on the iconic brand that is Graeter's."
CVG is the only airport in the world offering Graeter's products.
"This really fits with our goal of making CVG a reflection of its community," said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer of the airport, in a news release. "Few things signify the Greater Cincinnati area as Graeter's. It will provide our passengers with a taste of home before they take off and once they arrive. And those who grew up on Graeter's, but have moved elsewhere, will have the chance to grab a scoop and go back in time anytime they connect through our airport."
Graeter's joins Gold Star Chili as a local favorite available in the airport. The Cincinnati-style chili restaurant is located in Terminal 4, Concourse B. The Graeter's kiosk is located in Concourse A near Gate 12.
The store has not yet set specific hours of operation.
Graeter's has been a staple of Cincinnati since 1870 and has been featured nationally on several food-related shows. To find your nearest Graeter's location, go to http://www.graeters.com/locations.aspx.
